You are here:  Long Term Care

Because of frailties of aging or a developmental or physical disability, many people need help accomplishing activities of daily living and assistance caring for their health.  This help, referred to as long-term care, includes many different services, such as personal care, housekeeping or nursing.  Long-term care is provided in people's homes, in small and large residential care facilities or group homes, in nursing facilities and in the workplace.

Most long-term care is actually provided by family members, and people pay directly for a lot of the care they receive. Today the government in Wisconsin still spends more than a billion dollars a year paying for care that Wisconsin residents themselves cannot afford.

Long Term Support provides support to those who are developmentally, and physically disabled, and frail elders. Long Term is defined by any condition that is expected to last more than 90 days. Support can be provided in-home or out of home.

What to Expect:

When you call you can expect that an Information and Assistance Specialist will ask you to explain what problem(s)you may be having, or what support or information is needed.  If necessary or upon request appointments are made.  Through this process, other personal information regarding abilities, medical diagnoses and finances are items that may need to be discussed. This is at the caller's discretion.  Each individual need is so different that the ADRC is able to work with you to reach an agreeable outcome for you or your family member.
