Prevention Activities

The Aging Disability Resource Center does a variety of activities in the community. Be sure to check out our Calendar.  The Aging Disability Resource Center has partnered with the Racine Community Policing Office located at Regency Mall at the northeastern entrance located between Boston Store and Sears.  We host a variety of activities the fourth Wednesday of every month with a focus on Racine County service providers- connecting you to your community.

This Month:

A survey determined that 40 to 45 % of Americans make  New Year's Resolutions.  Some great resolutions start with improving self. Three great resolutions that work towards a healthier self include: exercise, eating well, and relaxing or reduce stress.

Resolve to:  Exercise

Exercise improves mood, combats chronic diseases, helps manage your weight, strengthens your heart and lungs, promotes better sleep, increases brain power, and can be fun!

Resolve to: Eat Well

  • Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Reduce intake of saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol.
  • Limit sweets and salt.
  • Drink alcoholic beverages in moderation, if at all.
  • Control portion sizes and the total number of calories you consume.

Resolve to: Relax

Practicing relaxation techniques can improve how you physically respond to stress by:

·         Slowing your heart rate

·         Lowering blood pressure

·         Slowing your breathing rate

·         Reducing the need for oxygen

·         Increasing blood flow to major muscles

·         Reducing muscle tension
